Who is responsible for safeguarding?
CHILDREN
The Department for Education is responsible for children and schools policies . They have created and updated a number of policies, legislation, and statutory guidance documents
These apply to all local authorities and organisations who are responsible for children’s safety. This includes schools, youth groups and charities, and sports clubs.
Put simply, safeguarding applies to anyone who works with or around children.
VULNERABLE ADULTS
The Office of the Public Guardian’s (OPG) to protect people at risk of abuse or neglect. This includes investigating concerns reported to them.
