Workshops & Briefing Events 2011 / 2012
The world of safeguarding will fundamentally change in 2011 and 2012 following the Protection of Freedoms Bill and the restructuring of key organisations. The content of criminal record disclosures will be more tightly controlled and substantially less roles will be eligible for enhanced disclosures. There will be challenges to over zealous safeguarding policies. In parallel, key cases are considering the legality of the ISA decision making process and the rights of sex offenders. All organisations involved with children and vulnerable adults need to review their job descriptions and recruitment practice to align with the new laws and the new definition of ‘regulated activity’. In parallel, safer recruitment practice, whistle-blowing procedures and systems to enable the early reporting of concerns about behaviour need to be effective.
We can provide experienced and knowledgeable speakers about these topics for your event. We are currently planning a series of briefing events around the UK, with a similar format to the Vetting and Barring Scheme Briefing events which we organised in 2009 and 2010. This website will be updated with details of these and other open safeguarding training courses and conferences as we expect that there will be a wide demand for information. Please contact us by email to include details of your event or to discuss speaker availability.
